About Fr. Agustino & Corazón Puro

Fr. Agustino Miguel Torres is a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal (CFR), a community established in the Bronx, New York, and dedicated to work with the poor and evangelization. Originally from South Texas, right on the Mexico border, he moved to the New York area to attend a university. After a series of events, he discovered his call to be a Franciscan friar above all through their work with the poor and their evangelization apostolates. He is the founder of Corazón Puro, an apostolate founded in the South Bronx dedicated to awakening and accompanying leaders in areas of great need. Father Agustino is a presenter on programs with EWTN: “Clic con Corazón Puro” in Spanish and “ICONS” in English. He is also one of the founders of “Catholic Underground,” and Casa Guadalupe, and the John Paul II House — houses of discernment for women and men respectively. He is internationally sought to preach at conferences, retreats, and missions to more than thirty-five thousand youth a year and many more through the media.

Corazón Puro is an organization that awakens and accompanies leaders, especially Hispanics, in areas of great need. It was founded in 2008 in the South Bronx by Fr. Agustino Torres and Odet Bisonó after seeing the great need in the Latino/Hispanic youth and young adults. It is in essence a chastity ministry that forms the young person to be a missionary disciple. Inspired by the life and theology of Pope St. John Paul II. Corazón Puro forms leaders to be Christ-centered, joy-filled agents of change in their areas of influence. These missionary leaders then empower other youth and young adults to live the fullness of life in authentic love and inner freedom through an intense relationship with Jesus Christ and service to their community. Corazón Puro currently has four affiliates in the US and seven internationally (Philippines, Nicaragua (4), Costa Rica (2)
